About The Music Train

Traditional music education relies on a notation system that many find difficult to grasp, requiring hours and hours of tedious practice. The Music Train is a revolutionary approach to music learning that will get you playing and reading music for ANY instrument within hours – not days or weeks.

Music Train is based on the principle of PLAY as a learning method. The story of a train ride as an analogy for music notation is so wonderfully easy to understand that even self-professed ‘musical idiots’ have breakthrough experiences.

The Music Train is ideal for musical beginners of all ages as well as teachers, therapists, families, and schools…basically ANYONE who wants to learn or teach music! Learning music has never been so fun and easy as with the Music Train Adventure!

People of all ages feel motivated and energised because, while you play games and complete interactive exercises, you’ll be absorbing complex new musical parameters all along the way. Musical expressions that normally might be difficult to understand, like rhythm, meter, pitch, rests, note values, time signatures, etc. are introduced easily with the simple analogy of a musical train ride.

The Music Train Method is an approach to music education which makes music understanding easy, effective and fun.
With this method, students start with concrete images that they are already familiar with. This helps them to easily make the connection with the sometimes abstract concepts these images represent.  

To provide the possibility for small repeated success experiences, students are often presented with carefully designed ‘micro challenges’, that keep the brain active, but where failure is unlikely. Each success is noted by the brain as a signal to produce feel-good hormones, which makes students feel positive about themselves and their ability to learn. Success experiences boost self-esteem, which in turn increase their motivation to learn and to practice more. In a very short time stress, failure and lack of motivation are things of the past. 


Children Ages 6 - 12

The Music Train is ideal for musical beginners of ages 6 - 12 who want to learn the basic principles of music - such as tone, melody, pitch and rhythm. It is specifically designed for children, who are still developing the fine motor skills to be able to play a technical musical instrument. With the Music Train Adventure, children are enabled to begin playing and composing their own music in a matter of hours!

Adults

In addition, the Music Train Adventure can be used by home schooling parents, teachers, therapists, families and schools, basically ANYONE who wants to teach music to children! It can be used as a teaching aid and as a music education curriculum.


With the Music Train Adventure, music turns into an exciting learning game that makes music understanding easier than ever!



There are 3 levels in this game based course. As you travel on the train from station to station, you’ll go on 4 or 6 train journeys on each level – playing songs and games along the way. 

On each journey a friendly conductor will lead you through various train compartments to introduce passengers of all sizes. You’ll meet adults, children, grandparents, sleeping people, luggage and seat reservations.

You’ll play songs and learn how to apply different music principles through tapping your feet, counting the beats, clapping your hands, playing percussion instruments, playing melodies, using various instruments such as the glockenspiel, xylophone or piano. 

All Train rides can be done in your own time. The course will save your progress so you can return at any time to continue your learning.
